2020 starts with an event called “Road Trip” at a new venue for us” called “Paviljoen Ongehoorde Muziek” (free translation “Pavilion of Unheard Music”) also known as POM.
At POM we will do an event every quarter, beside those events we carry on playing on modular events wherever they are. Check our Modulab Eindhoven Facebook page (and follow us) to stay connected.
Road Trip is an event with 2 artist and 1 writer/illustrator, both artist will do an individual performance and with the writer/illustrator they till a “Road Trip” story.
ROAD TRIP LINE UP
JUNGLE OF WIRES
Jungle of Wires aka Mandy Bakker started her musical career by playing in bands as a drummer of rock and 80s synth and non synth music.
After discovering the modular synthesizer, this is primarily where the creative and musical attention goes. Experimenting with rhythm, melodic excesses, vocals and field recordings with an ever changing self contained small setup.
The genre varies according to mood, but with a preference for trip hop this is primarily the path that is followed.

The fact that a modular set up doesn’t tell anything about the genre is so true, Thanos Fotiadis will add some ambient structures to our Road Trip event….
Thanos Fotiadis is a classical pianist, a multi-instrumentalist and a composer based in the Netherlands. Lost between extremes, from heavy to abstract ambient music, his goal is to create immersive and playful environments by sculpting silence in order to create sound.
Thanos Fotiadis recently released an album called Five Nocturnes For Immersion.
Modulab event will be as always a journey into interesting and unexpected Electronic Music, with a set by Jungle of Wires and a set by Thanos Fotiadis. That alone is enough to join us coming friday!
New to the Modulab concept is that both feature artists will also play a joint set in collaboration with an artist from a different art discipline.
For this friday the story ‘Op Weg’ by A//ard Krijger will be the inspiration for this guided improvisation. The story itself is an allegory about the choices one makes in life, expressed in characters like ‘Gevulde Koek’ en ‘Gevulde Kies’ (two brothers), ‘Onrecht’, ‘Amoebe’ and ‘Zeemeermin’, to name a few. The illustrations of the characters make the story more clear, or maybe not.
The journey these characters make, and the events that occur while following ‘the road’ will serve as a template and inspirational source for the music made by Jungle of Wires and Thanos Fotiadis in their joined set.
A unique and once in your lifetime experience!
