We had an unusual performance by SAMI in collaboration with Leon van Bokhorst at Modulab Fake Noise. As a source of fake noise, she explored audio snippets of drama from social media and YouTube in her work. The daily stream of soundbites that can withhold us from acting clearly on the things that matter.
SONICrider is well known for his exhilarating danceable modular synthesizer sets. He didn’t disappoint at Modulab Big Bang in Stroomhuisje Eindhoven. Inspired by the Big Bang theme, he took us rocking in a slowly expanding galaxy. Oh, and something with a bike wheel.
Leon van Bokhorst does a modular piece inspired by the Modulab Big Bang theme. To his ever-changing modular setup, he added an iPad and cassette player loaded with seductive choral singing. We dive into atmospheric exploration, more rhythmic evolvement than we’re used hearing from his sets.
An evening at which FRAKnoise induced the Big Bang. He did a stunning improvisation using his modular synth, trusted guitar, and a plethora of effect pedals. With FRAKnoise you simply don’t know where you’re heading. You bring the food and he brings the radio.
The closing act of Modulab Bells is a surprising and pretty dark one. It seems like Poet Danny X Kuiper living a sinister dream. Genuinely honoring the dead, while Boris Scorpio creates exquisite layers of droney noise. A persuasive act we will remember for a long time.
